CHIANG MAI - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is celebrating after Chiang Mai was named the No. 1 City in Asia in the prestigious Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2025, with the northern Thai city also ranking No. 2 globally.

 

The annual awards, determined by votes from the magazine's readers, recognize the best destinations, hotels, and travel experiences worldwide. Chiang Mai earned a Reader Score of 91.94, praised for its "super cordial people and amazing food."

Bangkok also received high honors, ranking No. 3 in Asia and No. 4 globally with a Reader Score of 91.34. The capital was celebrated for its dynamic energy, world-class cuisine, iconic temples, and vibrant nightlife.

 

In the Best Islands in Asia category, Thailand claimed two spots with Phuket ranking fourth and Ko Samui ranking fifth, both praised for their stunning beaches, luxury resorts, and unique atmospheres.

 

These accolades are expected to boost tourism to Thailand as international travelers plan their post-pandemic adventures. The TAT is leveraging these awards in its international marketing campaigns.
