15-Year-Old Student Faces 1.3M Baht BMW Bill After Bangkok Crash

BANGKOK, Thailand — A 15-year-old student and part-time computer programming instructor in Bangkok is facing a massive financial burden after his luxury BMW was severely damaged in a collision by a woman who had allegedly withheld the vehicle from his family for months. The family reports that the woman driving the car at the time of the crash has since gone silent, leaving them to foot a repair bill exceeding 1.3 million baht.

The vehicle in question is a BMW iX3 Sport valued at 3.7 million baht. Remarkably, the teenager purchased the luxury electric SUV using his own income generated from his work as a coding teacher. However, because he is a minor and legally unable to sign the purchase agreement, the car was officially registered under his father’s name. The family also utilized the vehicle for the teenager’s business, using it to transport students to his programming classes.

The dispute began in August 2025, when the family temporarily handed the BMW over to a car rental company to generate additional income. The following month, the teenager’s father retrieved the vehicle and showed it to a woman, reportedly an associate professor, who had expressed a strong interest in BMW models. According to the family, a verbal agreement was reached allowing the woman to use the car on the condition that she would help pay the vehicle’s monthly installments. However, the family alleges that the woman failed to return the vehicle as agreed and subsequently stopped communicating.

The situation escalated in December 2025, when the woman allegedly demanded 100,000 baht from the teenager in exchange for returning the car. The teenager and his mother attempted to intervene and recover the vehicle, but before they could secure it, the BMW was involved in a severe crash. On January 29, the teenager’s father was informed that the car had been damaged while the woman was driving. Although the woman initially downplayed the incident, claiming the damage was minor, the teenager utilized the vehicle’s GPS tracking application to locate the car. He discovered it had been towed to a police station, revealing extensive structural damage.

The financial fallout for the family has been staggering. An initial assessment by a repair garage estimated the damages at 1.1 million baht, but the teenager’s mother later confirmed that the final repair costs have since ballooned to more than 1.3 million baht. Compounding the financial distress, the family is forced to cover the entire repair cost out-of-pocket because the car’s insurance policy had expired prior to the crash.

The mother noted that the family has been without the BMW for nearly seven months, a loss that has directly disrupted the teenager’s coding classes and his primary source of income. Despite the severe damage and the ongoing financial crisis, the woman has reportedly not contacted the family to offer any assistance or compensation for the repairs. In an effort to seek public awareness and justice, the family has released dashcam footage of the collision alongside photographs of the mangled vehicle. Local media outlet Amarin has been covering the ongoing dispute as the family seeks a legal resolution.
